About the event
Climate-adaptation decision-making can be difficult when necessary information is not available. Participatory science has emerged as a way for community members to collect data and fill knowledge gaps regarding climate adaptation. However, participatory science approaches are not just a way to collect data; they also build decision literacy so communities and practitioners can explicitly weigh objectives, negotiate priorities under uncertainty, and make trade-offs in adaptation planning more transparent and defensible. Participatory science also offers a platform for community members to express their interests, expectations, and experiences. In this seminar, speakers will share their experiences with participatory science in decision-making and planning support.
