Description: This presentation shares findings from two Columbia University projects working with local governments on the frontlines of climate and disaster risk — one developing child-centered disaster preparedness plans with Puerto Rico's Department of Family Affairs, and the other co-designing community participation and climate action planning methodologies with three municipalities in Chile. Together, these projects offer transferable lessons on how local governments can build resilience for vulnerable populations through technical collaboration, community engagement, and practical tools.
